Press Release – The Compassionate Samurai Prison Ride

LOCAL GROUP JOINS NATIONWIDE EFFORT TO REDUCE THE PRISON RETURN RATE
Klemmer & Associates and Fresh Start Ministries have teamed up to create the first annual Compassionate Samurai Prison Ride. Workshop facilitators Brian Miller and Scott Cundy along with supporters will gather at Seal Rock in San Francisco on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00am p.s.t., to begin their fundraising journey down coastal Highway 1 to San Diego, California.
Petaluma, California – Tomorrow, supporters from across the state will join the fundraising efforts of the Compassionate Samurai Prison Ride. This ride was inspired by the Personal Mastery training Brian Miller introduced to the Washington state jail and prison system in order to reduce the recidivism rate.
• Did you know that 2,310,984 people were incarcerated in the US in 2008, and that on average 74% of those will return to prison within 4 years?
• Did you know that 95% of the men who are incarcerated had no loving father? That 60% of the men and 85% of the women were sexually molested as children? That more than 50% were unemployed at the time of their arrest? That children of inmates are 600% more likely to become incarcerated themselves?
This ride is a call to action as very little has been done to create change until now. The collaboration between Klemmer & Associates Leadership Seminars, Inc., and non-profit, Fresh Start Ministries has created a shift in statistics. Their goal? To set hearts free. In the Washington state jails and prisons, where they have been operating for more than 2 years now, the prisoner return rate is down by 40%. And this is just the beginning. Let’s generate funding for all states!
The event will feature: Master facilitator Brian Miller and longtime friend and associate Scott Cundy will pedal their way down the coast of California with the goal of raising $100,000 to fund the Prison Project. This money, raised in conjunction with the non-profit group Fresh Start Ministries, will enable 1,000 inmates to receive Klemmer & Associates training. Track this journey on the web at: www.klemmer.com Read their blogs, watch their fire-side chats and be part of making a real difference in the hearts of others.
Brian Miller will be available to speak to the media TODAY and TOMORROW before, during and after the event start from his bicycle between 6 am p.s.t. and 10 pm p.s.t. To schedule an interview during this event, please contact him at 541-840-4287.
