Brawn pleased by Spa showing

Mercedes GP PETRONAS Team Principal Ross Brawn was justifiably pleased by the team’s improved showing in Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix.

Drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher produced credible finishes of sixth and seventh place respectively in Spa.

Commenting afterwards, Brawn observed that the team’s race strategy “enabled us to achieve a strong points finish which looked difficult after qualifying”.

Both Mercedes GP PETRONAS drivers performed extremely well in testing conditions, Brawn remarked, adding that the ultimate result was as good “as we could have hoped for”.

“The result is very pleasing considering the relative performance of the car at the moment and a morale boost for the team,” he concluded.

Following Sunday’s race in Belgium, the Mercedes GP PETRONAS team occupies fourth position in the constructors’ standings on 146 points.

The team’s attention now turns to the next event on the Formula One calendar, which is the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
