Player of the Month: August

With the Community Shield snared and seven points from three games, there is plenty of cause for optimism in United’s start to 2010/11. Several players have shone, but who deserves ManUtd.com’s Player of the Month gong?

Dimitar Berbatov – “This could be Dimitar’s year,” Sir Alex proclaimed after the Bulgarian’s neat lob against Chelsea. Three games into the Premier League season, the signs are good, with two goals and a spate of classy contributions.

Darren Fletcher – Fletch’s limitless energy no longer surprises, but it never fails to impress. Even so early on in the season, the Scot’s non-stop midfield displays have caught the eye, and he’s already off the mark with a goal against Newcastle.

Nani – Building an impressive second half of last term is key and aside from his penalty miss at Fulham, the Portuguese winger’s start to the current campaign augurs well. A handful on either flank, he scored a cracker in an outstanding display against West Ham.

Paul Scholes – The metronomic midfielder has enjoyed a sterling start to yet another season. Outstanding in every August game, Scholes dictated United’s tempo with his flawless passing and also bagged his 150th Reds goal against Fulham.

Nemanja Vidic – Entrusted with the captaincy so far this season, the Serbian has shone in central defence, putting in an especially eye-catching display against West Ham.
